dc.description.abstract The waste water from the Engro Foods Ltd. plant contains significantly high levels of TDS, BOD, COD and FOG which makes the water unsuitable for reuse. The presence of BOD and COD consumes the dissolved oxygen available in the water and promotes the growth of unwanted microorganism in the water. This results in contamination of the water. The Fats Oils and Grease present cause bad odor, and cause clogging wherever they get accumulated such as on the surface of the membranes. The TDS interferes with the taste of the food and causes scale formation in the equipment. Additionally, the inlet pH is in the range of 6 to 9 and needs to be maintained for proper operation of the plant. Therefore, the project requires us to minimize these contaminants and maintain a certain pH level by designing a treatment system so that the water can be recycled to be used in the manufacturing process instead of being disposed of. Our proposed model meets with all the requirements of the project making the water reusable. en_US
