Abstract:
Experiments were performed on the high-speed direct injection engine to analyze the effect of inlet water injection on engine operating parameters. Tests were performed on different load conditions and varying water quantity being injected. This is combined with low pressure EGR with changes in the amount of water.
Experimental results show that the water injection decreases the NOx emission of the engine while increasing the HC and CO. Parameters like peak cylinder pressure, ignition delay, rate of heat release and cumulative heat release were also studied. The emission also decreases in the case of EGR+WI on every operating point
