dc.description.abstract The problem of modeling, system identification and stability analysis of mechanical systems has been studied in this thesis. The study constitutes of three major sections; the first section deals with the Simulink modeling of mechanical systems undergoing vibrational motion and the interpretation of their responses. Various examples of multiple degrees of freedom have been discussed and analysed. The second section starts with the theoretical explanation of system identification and presents a tutorial like guide on it; later on this section identifies system parameters of different cases of mechanical systems by using input and output data and validates the results showing the accuracy of the process. In the last section stability analysis of mechanical systems has been discussed, three stability theorems have been referred and applied on few examples to predict the stability of mechanical systems. Instead of solving a single dedicated problem, multiple problems of varying complexity have been studied in detail to fulfil the core purpose of the study i.e. to pave way for the students and researchers intending to work on the subject matter. en_US
