Abstract:
Engine dynamometers are used for testing and analyzing the performance of the engine which depends on the control parameters including Torque, Speed and Power. The thesis focuses on PID control strategy for water brake engine dynamometer control. PID control is widely used in the industry due to its reliability and relatively simple operation. The testing has been carried out on engine test bench containing the engine coupled with Taylor Water Brake Engine dynamometer. The sensors and control valves, incorporated to engine test bench, are used for the acquiring the signals and control of engine. The hardware used for the data acquisition includes National Instruments NI-PCI 6229 data acquisition card along with the signal conditioning units.
