Perfumes can be termed as a combination of essential oils, solvents, and fixatives. Pakistan
invests a great part of its imports in perfumes and in 2020 this amount is approximately US$
4.66 million. Rosa indica L. belongs to the family Rosaceae and is one of the species locally
available in Pakistan and has the full potential to be used in the perfumery industry. The project
is directed toward the qualitative analysis of phytochemicals in R.indica for perfumery
applications using various extraction techniques and solvents for high quality and low-priced
extracts. R. indica extract obtained through maceration and Soxhlet were tested for the
presence of phytochemicals. The test results exhibited the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids,
and steroids that evidenced the presence of fragrant compounds in R. indica which can be used
in perfumery applications. |
