Abstract:
Energy consumption has drastically increased in the past few decades. Fossil fuels occupy the main chunk of the energy sector. But this has globally caused many issues due to increasing carbon percentage in the world. To cater to the energy demand, the world has slowly shifted to green energy sources. With the research and consistency of scientists different materials have been developed to harness the power from sources that previously were thought of as losses, such few developments include piezoelectric materials and triboelectric materials. Although very few have been commercialized, triboelectric materials have shown to have the potential for commercialization for bulk energy harnessing. This article focuses on the development and testing of a Hybrid Piezoelectric and Triboelectric Nanogenerator and studying the effects of .changing the surface topography on the electrical output of the device. The proposed study employed Barium Titanate-PDMS Composite as a Hybrid Piezoelectric and Triboelectric Material and lithography was used to change the surface topography of the film. The results showed that there was an increase in the values of voltage and current when the surface topography of the film was changed. The output voltage increased from 850V to 1300V and the output current went from 87μA to 140μA. With these results, they can be industrially perfected and commercialized to draw high outputs. The constant Motion of water can be effectively transformed into energy and used as a constant supply of electricity, they can also be used to harvest energy from body motion and as movement sensors. With improving technology and further research work on triboelectric materials, the energy crisis can be effectively handled.
