dc.description.abstract Forced induction is one of the many ways to increase the horsepower and torque of an engine. It helps in forcing more air in to the combustion chamber which in turn increases the efficiency of an internal combustion engine. Both, superchargers and turbochargers, can be employed in an engine to carry out forced induction. A turbocharger is more efficient since it uses the exhaust gases to drive the turbine whereas supercharger derives mechanical power from the engine to run the turbine. A turbocharger if used in connection with the intercooler can bring about increase in the power and torque of an engine. en_US
