Health CSR Initiatives at OGDCL

Abstract

OGDCL is the largest taxpayer company of the country in the corporate sector and is the only flag ship company in E&P Sector playing a leading role to provide the basic human needs to the communities across the country. Supporting and sustaining communities residing in and around operational areas of OGDCL is pivotal for its success. The Company is committed to serve the underdeveloped segment of the society. Moreover, Company’s management understands that there is a need to strike a balance between overall objectives of achieving corporate excellence regarding fulfilling social responsibility towards the communities in the domains of education, health, water supply, sports, infrastructure development, etc. In fulfilling CSR, OGDCL ensures that its E&P activities are conducted in an ethical and responsible manner depicting Company’s core values viz., Safety, Merit, Teamwork, Dedication, Transparency and Integrity. The Company diligently follows the guidelines of DGPC, Ministry of Energy for utilization of social welfare funds and exercises all possible measures to ensure that its voluntary and obligatory contributions are utilized/ disbursed in the most transparent and efficient manner. Health and economy might seems to be two different things, but it doesn’t mean these two most important aspects in a country’s life cannot be optimized. When it comes to a country to optimize its economy, they need also to improve its health condition. People’s health is the main focus for a country to get along with global development. To reach the target of national growth, a country needs to make growing importance of health in the economy as a focus. OGDCL is also playing its part in providing basic health and medical facilities to the people living around the Oil & Gas Fields across the country. OGDCL firmly believes that primary health care is an absolute pre-requisite for sustainable socio-economic development. OGDCL health care initiatives are spread over all the four Provinces. A large population benefits from our health care initiatives nation-wide. Free healthcare services are provided to the inhabitants of operational areas where the Company carry out its E&P activities. Keeping in view the increasing attendance of patients, the Company has established social welfare dispensaries around its field. Along with education, OGDCL has identified health care as a key initiative for the Company’s CSR activities. This document elaborates the key CSR initiatives taken by OGDCL in the field of basic health in the light of United Nations sustainable development goals.
