Abstract:
Spatial Modulation (SM) is an attractive single radio frequency, low complexity and energy efficient transmission scheme for multiple antenna systems
in which spatial positions of antennas are exploited to convey information
besides traditional Amplitude and Phase Modulation (APM). Performance
degrades due to deep fading of active antenna in an SM system. To deal with
this problem closed loop antenna selection technique is employed which uses
channel state information at the transmitter. One of such schemes is Op portunistic Spatial Modulation (OSM), an efficient subset antenna selection
scheme for Spatial Modulation (SM) where the transmit antennas are divided
among groups and best antenna from each group is selected to transmit using
SM. Formation of groups and antenna selection technique can be modified in
an efficient way to further improve the system performance. Objective of this
research is to devise more efficient grouping schemes and antenna selection
technique to improve the error rate performance of OSM
