dc.description.abstract A review of the existing multilevel inverter topologies show that new advancements are required to solve the problem of voltage boost, circuit protection, using a single voltage source. In this thesis, a single-phase multilevel inverter topology based on existing multilevel structures in literature is presented. This topology allows to get multilevel boost voltage from single DC source. As most of our devices are working on AC while the voltage of the battery storage is DC, therefore we can not connect AC appliance directly with a DC storage device. The proposed research work also enables circuit protection with the transformer as it provides isolation between input and output. As the boost action is required to step up the voltage and a control technique is applied on boost converter to control the output voltage. The selected technique to apply on boost converter is PI controller. Moreover to get seven levels, seven switches are used in proposed multilevel inverter topology and these switches are controlled with the PWM technique. The entire system is simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK to verify the results. en_US
