Abstract:
Multi wavelength regeneration offer a cost-effective solutions for high data rate
signals. Here in our case, three 10 Gbps modulated optical signals with wavelengths 1 nm apart are optically combined and modulated with an RF signal of
25 GHz. The resultant noiseless sidebands of the modulated signal are filtered,
combined with a pump signal and passed through a highly nonlinear fibre. The
nonlinearity of the fibre generates new optical signals at different wavelengths that
are then filtered out for bit error rate analysis. Two different OSNR values of 16.5
dB and 19 dB at the input of HNLF are considered to evaluate the system perfor mance. In both cases, a significant improvement in OSNR values are observed
and a bit error rate of regenerated signals has reduced. Simulation results shows
an average improvement of 2.537 dB and 1.335 dB in received optical power at
bit error rate of 10−9
in case of 16.5 dB and 19 dB OSNR, respectively.
