Abstract:
CPM signal is widely used in military telemetry applications and wireless communications.CPM posses robustness and additive noise immunity property phase
modulation,it has advantage over digital phase modulation techniques in form of
better spectral efficiency and utilization while maintaining signal integrity.CPM
includes wide array of variety in forms of phase shaping function and modulation
index.Different phase shaping functions have varying forms of advantages depending
on the application.Multi-h CPM signal where modulation indices are rational and
vary over each symbol interval in a cyclic modulo-H pattern where H are number
of modulation indices being used.Multi-h CPM signals has greater intersymbol
phase difference resulting in better intersymbol interference measures.CPM signal
also has memory being length of phase shaping function which induces memory
in the signal.Multi-h CPM signals are difficult to construct and interpret, due to
which certain decompositions have been proposed aiming at PAM representation
and approximation using min. number of pulses required.Separability property has
been recently discovered which reduces memory of CPM signal to one.In this thesis
this separability property is extended to multi-h case and exact representation is
formulated.An upper bound on dimension of the separable CPM signal is calculated
and basis pulses are found for implementation of matched filter based coherent
receiver.
