dc.description.abstract Hydrogen cars are important application of clean energy generation and storage system. Fuel cell hybrid electric vehicles (FHEVs) are the best alternatives of conventional vehicles now a days. Concept of hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) has been developed with time. Initially, proposed HEV consisted of internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric motor, which is not emission free due to presence of ICE. Later on, concept of FHEV has been developed, which uses fuel cell technology as main power source. They address both issues; clean energy generation and fuel economy crisis. FHEV under consideration consists of 3 sources; 1) Fuel cell (FC) 2) Super Capacitor (SC) 3) Battery. Which are connected to DC bus through power converting units and multiple DC-DC converter configuration has been used in this model. In multiple converter topology each power source has its own dedicated converter. All three sources have been used to run electric motor of vehicle. In this thesis work integral backstepping and synergetic based nonlinear controllers have been designed for power converting units of FHEV. Nonlinear controllers has been designed due to nonlinear nature of the system. Global stability of the system has been ensured by using Lyapunov function. These control laws have been used to achieve the desired control objectives. Proposed controllers have been tested under MATLAB/Simulink, Simulation results show that performance of controllers is satisfactory. Moreover, a comparative analysis of different control techniques has been done to prove the importance of proposed algorithms. en_US
