The purpose of this thesis was to examine the feasibility and performance of a solarbased Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) for power generation. The study focused on employing solar irradiation as the heat source for driving the ORC, taking advantage of the compatibility between solar thermal collector technologies and the temperature needs of the cycle. Through a combination of experimental measurements and simulation modeling, the operation principles of solar-ORC technology were explored, and a detailed analysis of several solar-ORC systems was undertaken, including parameters such as pressure, temperature, heat input, and heat output. The data acquired from the experiments and simulations provided vital insights into the system's performance, including the efficiency levels achieved and the heat transfer characteristics. The limitations and constraints connected with solar-ORC technology were recognized and discussed, opening the way for future study in this sector. The findings of this study contribute to the understanding and development of renewable energy-based technologies, underlining the potential of solarORC systems for sustainable power generation. |
