Abstract:
This thesis aims to summarize our contribution in designing and developing control and power supply unit for Run-Flat Insert Changing Machine to tackle the problem of changing flat tire insert in military vehicles. The project focuses on meticulous selection of electronic and hydraulic components to ensure optimal performance and reliability. The required action is performed using a system of five hydraulic jacks controlled by the distribution control box and power supply unit. The controls of the jacks can be switched between wireless (radio) and wired (joystick) controls. AC motor is used to achieve the movement of hydraulic fluid at a fixed flow rate to create the required pressure. This is further moved to the required jacks via DC powered solenoid operated three-directional valves. Advanced power management techniques are incorporated into its design to maximize energy efficiency and reduce power waste. To guarantee a constant and uninterrupted power flow, the power supply unit also incorporates protection systems against power fluctuations. The power supply unit improves the machine's overall performance and longevity by reliably supplying the required electrical power.
There is a safety feature to relieve the pressure build-up in idle conditions via a two- directional solenoid valve. There are also three emergency push stops in case of any unforeseen situation. The power unit can provide the required power for both the AC motor as well as the DC powered solenoid valves. The complete description of controls and functionalities of power supply unit has been given in detail in the thesis. The Run-Flat Insert Changing Machine's control and power supply components were successfully developed, and this has various important advantages. The enhanced control unit improves the insert changing process precision and accuracy in the first place, leading to shorter turnaround times and more overall efficiency. In conclusion, after the development of the power supply unit for Run-Flat Insert Changing Machine it was successfully installed and tested along with the mechanical part of the Run-Flat Insert Changing Machine.
