dc.description.abstract The study tour at the University of Southampton Malaysia, conducted from the 15th to the 18th of January, 2024 served as a dynamic platform for exploring educational innovations and emerging trends in higher education in Malaysia. Over the course of four days, we immersed in a diverse range of sessions, workshops, and panel discussions, shedding light on key aspects shaping the educational landscape. Beginning with a thorough orientation, the first day focused on Malaysia's strong economy, driven largely by tourism, and delved into the complex workings of the education sector. It explored how educational institutions balance profit motives with social goals. Discussions also highlighted the influence of major investors from neighboring Singapore in Southern Malaysia, emphasizing the close relationship between Singapore and Malaysia. Discussion on artificial intelligence, machine learning, blockchain, IoT, and neuro-networks, as well as their augmentation by AI and AI+ were also really fruitful. Moreover, the Green Business School session emphasized the critical role of sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for the years 2015-2030. It highlighted the involvement of key stakeholders at national and international levels and stressed the significant contributions of the business and education sectors towards advancing the SDGs agenda. Moving forward, conversations on day two covered various topics within the Transport, Ports, and Terminals sector, including capacity, business models, and competition dynamics. The strategic importance of the Strait of Malacca in global trade dynamics was also explored. We also visited Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP), Iskandar Puteri, Johor Bahru District to understand on-ground transshipment operations. Day three was filled with intensive sessions on financial analysis tools, particularly Bloomberg databases for market monitoring and company financial analysis. Participants gained practical insights into estimating volatility in stocks and options, using econometric models like GARCH and MGARCH with tools such as STATA/SE. This understanding is crucial for managing market risks effectively. Wrapping up the tour, discussions on the final day centered on the pivotal role of business studies in human development. Networking, diversity, and a lifelong learning attitude were underscored as crucial elements for navigating the dynamic landscape of business education. In essence, the 4-day international study tour at the University of Southampton Malaysia offered a comprehensive understanding of the interconnections between education, technology, and business dynamics. Participants gained invaluable knowledge and perspectives essential for navigating the complexities of the contemporary global landscape. en_US
