dc.description.abstract The main goal of this project is to design, fabricate and install an in-process Grinding Gauge. This gauge is used to measure the change in diameter of shaft during grinding operation up to 1 Micron and stop the grinding operation once it reaches the target grinding level. This Gauge utilizes an LVDT to measure change in microns, a V-Gauge technique to engage with the grinding shaft and a PLC based system to automate the grinding process. This Gauge instead of pneumatic force, uses the spring mechanism to continuously engage the Gauge with the grinding shaft decreasing wear and tear between components and precisely measure without any deviations. By analyzing the existing Marposs in-process Gauge and their current dimensions, we can tailor our product to seamlessly align with them, facilitating a straightforward installation process for Industries without necessitating any modifications to their existing machine components. en_US
