NBS EMBA INTERNATIONAL STUDY TOUR: INDUSTRY AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMME AT THE ALTINBAS UNIVERSITY - TURKEY

Abstract

The international study tour to Turkey, complemented by coursework at Altinbas University, provided a rich exploration of the country’s dynamic culture, advanced industries, and robust infrastructure. This report synthesizes key insights and experiences gained during both the academic and cultural components, offering a comprehensive view of Turkey’s multifaceted landscape. Participants explored Turkey’s vibrant cities, including Istanbul and Ankara, where they visited iconic sites such as the Grand Bazaar, Blue Mosque, and Anit Kabir, immersing themselves in the country’s rich history and natural beauty. The academic component, conducted at Altinbas University, focused on contemporary topics such as business analytics, AI in decision-making, and ethical considerations in AI deployment. Through lectures, case studies, and discussions, participants gained a deeper understanding of emerging technologies and their practical applications in various industries, particularly in the aviation and defense sectors during their visit to Turkish Aerospace in Ankara. Beyond the academic sessions, the visit also highlighted Turkey’s sustainable tourism practices, mass public transport network, and commitment to cleanliness, which left a lasting impression. The seamless integration of tradition with modernity, along with the country's efficient transport systems and emphasis on environmental stewardship, provided valuable lessons in urban management and industrial innovation. Overall, the study tour broadened participants' perspectives, equipping them with new knowledge and experiences that will shape their future endeavors in the global business arena.
