Abstract:
The international visit/study tour is an important part of EMBA Program which falls under
the “International Exposure Program, IEP” of NUST. The main motivation of this program
is to allow professionals to enhance their horizon through this opportunity where they get
exposure of the overseas industries/business models including the interaction with
university faculty members, students & industry field experts working in different
countries. It provides access to international learning experience in a pristine environment
with professionals from different domains, disciplines, and batches. The intent of this
report is to provide the overview of international study tour to University of Southampton
Malaysia, UoSM in fulfillment of the prerequisites of the EMBA business project. A 4-day
study tour was arranged for EMBA students this year in January, facilitated by NUST
Business School in collaboration with faculty of University of Southampton, Malaysia
(UoSM). The report covers the content of lectures/seminars arranged at UoSM covering
the educational setup & overall economy of Malaysia, applications of artificial intelligence
(AI) and future technological trends based on these developments, a complete guide &
trends on sustainable development goals (SDGs) and impact of business education on
human capital development. A practical firsthand experience of Bloomberg database
covering a wide range of its applications in financial modeling and market analysis was
one of the interesting components of this overall engagement. The conclusion of the trip
included a panel discussion where an opportunity was provided to students to interact with
the Dean of the University of Southampton. The tour also included a special trip to the
Transshipment Port located in the city of Johor Bharu, Malaysia.
