International Study Tour to University of Southampton, Malaysia (UoSM)

Abstract

The purpose of this report is to provide a detailed overview of the study tour to University of Southampton Malaysia (UoSM) in collaboration with NUST Business School whereby students of Executive MBA program attended a four-day module at UoSM along-with a field visit to the transshipment port. This program aims at providing the professionals with not only the curriculum knowledge but also presents them with opportunity to socialize & engage with international faculty members, subject matter experts and gain knowledge from their interactions with peers & other professionals. This year’s industrial trip headed by Dr. Muhammad Fawad Khan, Associate Professor & Program Head for Executive MBA had two main components, the lectures, and the trip to Port of Tanjung Pelepas (PTP). The faculty lectures covering the topics of artificial intelligence, sustainable development, financial modelling, and the impact of business education on human capital development aligned by host university in a partnership to with NBS to fulfill the requirements of the business project for Executive MBA degree. The report also provides summary of the Malaysian economy and covers key insights of the industrial setup within the country. It also reflects upon the landscape of the city Johor Bharu which is the educational hub of the country and its development plans in line with the country’s growth objectives for the upcoming years. The report also briefly covers the host university’s infrastructure, landscape and strategic placement within Malaysian educational sector and the role it is performing to contribute to the country’s economy.
