dc.description.abstract Base course provides additional load distribution and contributes to the sub-surface drainage. It may be composed of crushed stone, crushed slag, and other untreated or stabilized materials. Base course permeability plays an important role in many pavement failures which are subjected to moisture-related problems. Drainage capability, as indicated by permeability, is also an important consideration when designing an unbound granular base. In this project we are trying to increase the permeability of base course by changing percentage of medium size particle keeping the strength within required limits. This is achieved by preparing different samples of base course material with varying percentage of medium size particles (passing through #4 sieves and retained on #10). Test for permeability and strength will be conducted to check the result en_US
