Abstract:
With everything going towards automation and smart systems, Traditional mechanical switchboards still exist widely in our society. Smart switchboards are key to the future as the whole world is going towards home automation and every day new brands release home automation systems. The most renowned ones are Apple, Amazon Alexa, Google Smart home, and Samsung smart home. All of these solutions are reliable and they are safer than physically touching plugs because bad insulations and wet hands can often prove to be fatal to human life.
While these solutions are safe and reliable there is an issue and that is, they are expensive to opt for one of the solutions you have to add their smart devices which replace your old ones. Also, many of them come with a hefty bill in name of a subscription fee that you have to pay.
This project has given birth to a new device ‗Automatrix‘ which is a smart solution for not-so-smart traditional switching systems. An affordable compact PCB that can easily get into your old SwitchBoard and you can use it without replacing anything.
The idea is to keep this project open-source so that there can be future developments from the engineering community and users will be able to get new features for free.
In order to achieve the goal of remotely controlling the appliances (smart and non-smart devices), This project is partitioned into three parts
Front-End UI
The app was developed on MIT app inventor which is a drag-and-drop app creator.
Google Firebase
Google firebase was used to send data from the microcontroller to the application.
Automatrix
A compact PCB board to control non-smart home appliances
