Abstract:
Achieving zero-carbon or low-carbon buildings is possible by implementing innovative
approaches and incorporating renewable energy sources into the building infrastructure.
Thermal energy collection has become critical amid challenges such as climate change, global
warming, and environmental pollution. Transforming solar energy into thermal energy by
means of a Transpired Solar Collector (TSC) will help combat the soaring greenhouse gas
emissions, and fossil fuels consumption. In this report, a brief introduction along with literature
review is presented about TSCs having detailed discussion about numerical analysis and
experimental investigations.
The integration of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis for the optimization
of TSC represents a robust and cost-effective approach. The optimized model is tested
experimentally after the fabrication of a prototype. This combined methodology not only
enhances the overall efficiency of the research process but also leads to substantial reductions
in the financial burdens typically associated with exclusively relying on experimental testing
for multiple design configurations. By synergizing computational simulations with real-world
experimentation, researchers can optimize data collection, streamline analysis, and achieve a
more comprehensive understanding of TSC performance while minimizing the associated
costs with a pure experimental setup.
