Abstract:
We aim to design and manufacture automatic mechanical shut-off valves for
retrofitting already existing domestic gas appliances with the funding provided by PEC.
The versatile nature of this safety valve enables it to be used in a wide range of domestic
gas appliances including ovens, heaters, etc. Unlike the past, the trend of the world has
changed now, and everyone is concerned when it comes to health and safety of human
lives. During the survey we conducted, we found that almost 90% of people
acknowledged the existence of a problem of gas leakage. Even 27.5% people are eye
witnessed of incidents caused by gas leakage and 97% people demanded solution for it.
During the project, we found 3 alternate principles to make valves. It includes
pressure-based valves, temperature-based valves, and electrical input source-based
valves. Every valve had its own limitations. Due to several reasons and limitations, we
have opted for Temperature based valve as they although expensive but provides the best
possible solution for our project.
In outlining what our project covers, it's important to mention a drawback: you
must turn the valve back on by hand after it's been turned off due to gas load shedding. As
we have identified potential now, our future research could explore areas such as how to
turn it on automatically using mobile phones. In a nutshell, this research advances our
understanding of gas leakage issues and opens avenues for further exploration in the field
of human life safety.
