Abstract:
A comprehensive review of Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) and assessment of water flux through
CNT based porous membrane through mathematical models and their experimental validation
is discussed thoroughly. Carbon Nanotubes were discovered only recently but they have found
their way in almost every field of science. This is due to the charming properties of CNTs and
their potential benefitsin all kinds of applications. The characterization of various types of
Carbon Nanotube membranes has also been done. Moreover, The three major types of CNT
membranes namely, Bucky PaperCNT membranes, Mixed Nanocomposite CNT membranes
and Vertically Aligned CNT membranes have been thoroughly reviewed and their Synthesis
Techniques, Characterization methods and Applications have been discussed in depth. Several
Mathematical Models are discussed and verified with respect to experimental data of Carbon
Nanotube Membranes. Furthermore, Few Mathematical Models are identified for the Possible
future work for this project owing to the vast areas of CNTs which still need to be researched
