dc.description.abstract In the recent years, multiple antennas are widely used in the mobile terminal as they enhance the communication performance in terms of spectral efficiency and reliability of link. Pattern reconfigurability is another new trend in the antenna design system as it allows the antenna to adjust for the different propagation and user situations. Due to less space it is very difficult to implement both the techniques and to attain the good performance of the antenna. In this thesis, planar pattern reconfigurable multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna system along with meta-material provide the pattern shifting property at 2.18 and 3.67 GHz. The used substrate is FR-4 having the relative permittivity of 4.4 and the loss tangent of 0.02 and the dimensions are 65_65_1:6 mm3. By connecting and disconnecting the parasitic elements using PIN diodes, the property of pattern reconfigurability is achieved. On the substrate the antennas are placed on the left and right bends to enhance the isolation mechanism. For all the frequency bands the isolation isbelow -15dB. en_US
