dc.description.abstract Human beings are always prone to infectious diseases. Human pathogens are of various types. These could be a virus, bacteria, fungi, protozoans and other parasites. These all are cosmopolitan in their presence and cause various infections . Several deaths occur due to these infections every year. Despite various drugs are available in market these pathogens still are potential threat due to their variability. It is a need of time to develop new drugs and plant isolates to cope with these infections. Therapeutic role of phytochemicals has been known for centuries.Saikosaponin B2 is a phytochemical and a novel plant isolated compound. Its anti cancer and anti viral properties are well known, but its various pharmacological activities were still needed to be exploited including anti microbial activity, oxidative and hemolytic properties. All these pharmacological activities are exploited in this research and antimicrobial potential of saikosaponin B2is an important finding of this research. en_US
