BIM-Based Claims Management System: A Centralized Information Repository for Extension of Time Claims

Abstract

Claims are inevitable in the construction projects because of the unique nature of construction industry. Claims management has become a complex phenomenon which often causes problems leading to disputes between contracting parties. In traditional claim management system, submission and evaluation of a claim is a challenging task because of certain issues associated with it. Hence, there is a need of shifting the traditional claim management process to a digital environment, such as Building Information Modeling (BIM), for efficient claim management. This research, therefore, focuses on utilizing BIM technology for developing a BIM-Based Claims Management System (BIM-CMS) for managing the claims for Extension of Time (EOT).
