dc.description.abstract Chromium hard coatings used in wear resistance applications have an average hardness of 900 Hv. To increase the service life of any application, the wear resistance of its surface should be increased which primarily depends on hardness. This project includes the study of two possible surface coatings having a superior hardness and wear resistant properties in order to replace the conventionally used Cr coating. This includes the formation of Chromium Nitride, through nitridation of Cr coating, formation of Nano Cobalt Phosphorus alloy coating, through electroplating. en_US
