dc.description.abstract A 800W, 2.45GHz argon gas microwave Plasma torch (MPT) has been designed and fabricated, working at atmospheric Pressure. The Plasma is sustained in a 25-mm internal diameter fused Quartz tube, which penetrates perpendicularly through the wide walls of a tapered and shorted WR-340 (85mm x 45mm cross section) waveguide. The Plasma temperature was enough to melt the copper wire tip i.e. >1000°C. The effect of gas flow rate and length of Quartz tube on the flame has been studied. The experiments for Microwave Power coupling were also conducted. Material processing techniques like heat treatment and nitriding were also performed. en_US
