dc.description.abstract Asphalt cement is the engineering material which was used to seal ship hulls and as a water proofing material in ancient time. In the past sidewalks were constructed using naturally available rock asphalt in France and US. Today the modern refined asphalt cement is used in the Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) as it is economic, environmental friendly and even the performance of recycled and new Hot Mix-Asphalt is almost similar. Sasobit, a synthetic long chain Fischer-Tropsch wax and is a distinctive asphalt additive which is cost effective and environmentally friendly to be utilized as additive in Pavement industry. It reduces viscosity of Asphalt binder and improve workability which can decrease mixing and application process time. This viscosity lessening and flow improvement allows the use of greater proportions of reclaimed asphalt. Waste engine oil (WEO) is one of the viable modifier that can act as rejuvenating agent that can be helpful in improving performance of the aged binder. However, main worry of utilizing waste engine oil in a RAP is its unknown history usage. Moreover, higher proportion of engine oil in a RAP impose damage on the asphalt pavement. However, smaller Proportion of waste oil well blended in the mix may prove beneficial when combined with RAP by offsetting the increased stiffness in order to produce a pavement with performance similar to one made of virgin materials. It is important to evaluate aged binder modified with Sasobit and WEO for rutting, fatigue and low temperature cracking at intermediate, high temperature and low temperature. After detailed testing and evaluations it was concluded that a 4% WEO can rejuvenate RAP up-to 25% while Sasobit stiffens the blend of RAP and Virgin. Moreover, the rutting resistance of Sasobit and RAP blend is higher compared to control and waste engine modified RAP. The WEO blend with RAP shows better resistance against fatigue compared to Sasobit modified. The blend of RAP and WEO has better performance against low temperature cracking as compared to RAP modified with Sasobit. Cost comparison per cum shows that the blend of RAP and WEO is lower as compared to RAP modified with Sasobit. en_US
