dc.description.abstract Due to the environmental risks, declining availability of fossil fuels and an increase in demand of the green energy, the energy paradigm is shifting towards the use of reusable energy sources and sustainable energy storage devices. Supercapacitors (SC) are energy storage devices that have the capacity to manage high power rates as compared to batteries. But they lack behind batteries in terms of energy rates that means that a SC cannot be used where high energy densities are required. As the performance of supercapacitor greatly depends on the electrode material, the researchers are now trying to engineer electrode materials that have high charge storage capacity along with fast electron ion kinetics. The introduction of graphene, a 2-D sheet like structure, has paved the pathway to use layered structures in the future electrode applications. Layered structures have high capacitance values owing to the increased surface area that allows the maximum exposure of active sites en_US
