Abstract:
Highway construction and infrastructure development are crucial to meeting the growing
transportation needs of society. However, the safety and efficiency of these highways
depend heavily on their design and construction, particularly in regards to U-turns.
Protected U-turns, in particular, have gained popularity as a safe means of navigating
obstacles and changing directions on highways.
This thesis presents a comprehensive analysis of the traffic on a highway after the
construction of protected U-turns. The study includes a detailed examination of the design
and construction of these U-turns and their impact on the flow of traffic. The thesis
examines the changes in traffic patterns and driver behavior, as well as the impact on
overall traffic safety.
The research methods include field observations, traffic flow analysis, and simulation
